November 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm MST
The types of drugs on the streets continue to change and are easy to obtain. This session will discuss ways people use drugs, ways to hide drugs, new trends in alcohol use, pills at convenient stores and gas stations, today’s marijuana, and the opiate epidemic. The majority of children, teens, and college students using drugs are not drug addicts: they are simply experimenting. Whether experimentation starts with the “challenges” promoted online, trying pot or popping pills, a few bad decisions can lead down a path with many consequences. The “glamorizing” of drugs is promoted all over the internet and in today’s music.
Lynn Reimer is president of ACT on Drugs, Inc., a non-profit organization with a mission to educate parents, teens, and professionals about addictive and psychoactive substances, both legal and illegal, which are available in their community.
